Words to the wise

Hey, you! Yes, you. Do you also have a blog? Wordpress? Self-hosted?

I wrote a little educational story for you. Unfortunately, like all educational stories, it’s not very good. Still, I would like you to read it. And learn from it.

And… yeah, okay, go ahead. Ridicule me. I don’t mind.

As long as you learn from it.

Blogroll update

20080127-shaman.png

Why is it that so many of all the WoW-related blogs seem to be written by hunters, priests and druids? No offense to the sharpshooting, facemelting and/or shapeshifting among you, you know I love to read your stories, I really do. But seriously, where are all the shamans at?

I’ve been updating my blogroll, and while I was at it I’ve created a seperate category for my fellow shamans. Problem: the list is too short! It needs more lightning bolt casting, stormstriking and chainhealing fanatics!

Any recommendations? :)

The cake was a lie

So delicious and moistOne month is like an eternity on the internet, but I’m not going to let that stop me from writing a late reply to Big Red Kitty’s post.

No matter how awkward the timing turned out to be, it’s certainly flattering to receive a BRK stamp of approval. It’s also somewhat bewildering to see the sudden stampede of visitors that followed. Holy Hunters Batman!

However, there are two things need to be said. Yes, I know, I know, I’m very late with this, but I simply have to get them off my chest.

Firstly, I hope I won’t go down into the blogosphere history as that-girl-who-invented-the-word-”noobcakes”. Afer all, noobcakes is hardly a newly invented word, as a quick google search will undoubtedly teach you.

Secondly, and this one bothers me quite a bit: very few people seem to understand that The WoW Commandments is nothing but a, rather badly executed, parody on an existing song. The link is in the post, folks. Good stuff. Give it a listen.

What I’m absolutely not doing is telling other people how to play the game. Maybe I should have added a disclaimer above the post (”the views expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the views of the author”, something along those lines). Either way, I’m a bit sad to see how some people simply copy and paste the text onto their own blog or guild forum without providing the proper context. I mean… it makes me look like such a twat.

Anyway, I just wanted to set that straight. Kudos to those of you who did get the joke.

Oh right, before I forget: yes, I am indeed female, both in-game and otherwise. :P And Mr. Witch Doctor is in fact not a Witch Doctor himself. He’s an excellent Tauren hunter with variable spec, and he also appreciates obscure Portal references!

Hamster Replacement

Dance, hamster, dance
What’s this, an update? Why yes, it actually is an update. Jolly.

Short recap of the last two days: I brought my repaired (and supposedly as-good-as-new) motherboard home, gleefully reassembled my computer, only to learn that it was still as braindead as it had been before. All the devices were happily spinning, buzzing, whirring and flashing their little LEDs, but the motherboard remained eerily quiet. Or, as the old Chinese saying goes: the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead.

Disassembled the whole thing again, complained loudly at the computer store that had supposedly repaired the motherboard, got my money back, went to another store, bought a new motherboard, processor and two strips of memory, reassembled, pushed the button, and…

Everything works. I’m one happy hamster, ladies and gents.

Expect some more shaman related updates in the very near future!

It’s raining in Shanghai

I’m back… except not really. My computer’s motherboard fried and needs to be replaced, which, I’ve been assured, could very well take less than a month. Whoopie.

So, unfortunately, my online gaming possibilities are currently limited to playing the weather game on my Nintendo Wii. (Yes, I’m actually updating through the Wii browser right now, which is why I’m keeping this short. It’s… trippy. In a masochistic sort of way.)

Oh yes. Happy New Year!

Offline

The Witch Doctor is currently enjoying a two week vacation away from the internet.

Happy holidays, and see you in 2008 :)

Filler

Thanks to Phaelia linking to my humble little blog I realised it’s about time I shake off my altitis, (I’ve got one of every class now…) play my shammy a bit more, and write some updates again!

So please consider this a filler post until I’ve got something more content worthy to write about ;)

Orc Hunter
f-orc.jpghunter.jpg

Orcs are among the scarier of races in Warcraft. They’re badass and violent, and you can spot ‘em from a mile off from their greenish skin. As an orc, you probably get into lots of trouble - but sort it out with lots of pummeling.

As a hunter, you prefer to be on the sidelines. You would rather see all angles of a situation - probably to find the best position to shoot from. You like animals, but mostly because they (might) do your bidding.

I must admit to being mildly disappointed.
